Courtney is a multi-disciplinary designer specializing in lighting, scenic, and media/projection design. Originally from Shreveport, Louisiana, they have worked as a freelance designer for two decades, as well as owned and operated a production company serving the Northwest Louisiana area. After working as a designer for many years, they attended the graduate program at the University of Iowa where they earned an MFA in Theatrical Design focusing on lighting, scenic, and media/projection. They are currently the Assistant Professor of Lighting and Media Design at Wesleyan University's Theater Department in Middletown, CT, while also continuing an active career as a freelance designer.
With over 100 design credits, some notable projects include MEDIA CLOWN at the Prague Quadrennial, BAD THINGS HAPPEN HERE... at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, YOU MUST WEAR A HAT at TheaterLAB NYC, WOLFCRUSH and SHE KILLS MONSTERS at Wesleyan University, SHOE and POLARIS both featured in the Iowa New Play Festival, SWEAT and SUNDAY IN THE PARK at the University of Iowa, The Shreveport Opera's FIDDLER ON THE ROOF and COSI FAN TUTTE, River City Repertory Theatre's GREY GARDENS, VENUS IN FUR, and BUS STOP.
